Dallas One VC college recruiting

Our Mission

At Dallas One VC, our mission is to educate our athletes about the college options that are available for them to continue their careers beyond high school. There has been a recent push to grow the sport with the help from First Point Volleyball.

It’s very exciting to see more colleges add mens volleyball across the United States.

Recruiting timeline

In general

Most boys are making their push toward college selection when they turn 17 or heading into their junior year of High School.  Boys mature later and a lot of the tallest players aren't finished growing until they are 17 or 18 years old. However, it's never too early to start looking into potential options your sophmore year.

Sophmore Year

Sophomore year is a good time to start making your list of schools that could potentially be a good fit academically, socially, financially, and athletically. While you are traveling during your school breaks, during summer or during your club season, stopping in for a campus visit and going to volleyball camps are obviously the best because you get a feel for the campus, dorms, food, and can potentially meet the coaches and academic staff. When you start to look at schools that are further away, you can have a comparison in mind based on the size of the school and urban area.

Junior Year

Entering junior year is a great time to become extremely proactive and begin contacting your top 5 to 10 schools. Planning your college campus visits should become more serious. Men's college volleyball coaches have limited resources and they want to know that you have an interest before spending their resources to come and watch you play. Includins a short unedited game film is great to add to your email to begin the recruitment/selection process.

Senior Year

During your senior year is when the vast majority of boys volleyball players are making their college decisions. If you've put in the work with our help, you can definitely find a place to play. Programs contact us all the time searching for players who want to continue their volleyball career at the next level. Continue to send emails, make phone calls until you have found the school that is right for you!
